Conner McQueen
Conner McQueen was named UIW's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in January 2023. In McQueen's first year as coordinator, the UIW offense finished No. 2 in the FCS in total offense and passing offense. UIW led the Southland Conference in total offense, scoring offense, passing yards per game, yards per carry, total first downs, third down conversion, and total touchdowns. He began his coaching career at Texas A&M, his alma mater, first as a student assistant coach in the spring of 2017 and then as an offensive quality control assistant in the 2017 season. The Aggies played in the 2017 Belk Bowl.
As a player, McQueen was a backup quarterback, holder on placekicks, and a member of the team's leadership council at Texas A&M from 2012 to 2016 - playing for the likes of Kliff Kingsbury, Clarence McKinney, Jake Spavital, and Noel Mazzone as offensive coordinators during his time as a player. In 2014, McQueen, a former walk-on, was awarded a scholarship. He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and master’s degree in financial management, both from Texas A&M in 2017.He played football and baseball at Klein Oak High School in Spring, TX. He was born on August 27, 1993. His father, Mark, was a quarterback at Texas A&M in 1981 and 1982. His grandfather, Bob McQueen, played football at Tulsa and is in the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame after winning 17 district titles and two state championships as the head coach at Temple High School and Mexia High School. He also served as an assistant coach at SMU for three years.
Blair Cavanaugh
Blair Cavanaugh joined UIW in the spring of 2022 as the Special Teams Analyist.
Prior to UIW, Cavanaugh joined Syracuse in February 2019. Syracuse was dynamic on special teams during his time there, they ranked 1st in the ACC in special teams and 5th nationally in the 2020 season. During his time with the Orange, he coached 2 all American specialists, three all-conference specialists, 1 Lou Groza Award winner and two all-conference returners. Cavanaugh has two punters in the NFL, Sterling Hofrichter with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Nolan Cooney with the Arizona Cardinals. Cavanaugh played his college football at Portland State and Oregon State. A wide receiver himself, Cavanaugh began his career with Oregon State and was a member of OSU’s 2012 Alamo Bowl and 2013 Hawaii Bowl teams. In 2012, he was named Oregon State’s Offensive Scout Team Player of the Year. Cavanaugh played his final two seasons at Portland State and helped the Vikings to the 2015 FCS playoffs. Cavanaughs father is the current Offensive Line Coach for Arizona State University. Cavanaugh earned his bachelor’s degree in social science from Portland State in 2016 and his master’s degree from Ball State University in 2018
