Ian Macdonald

Minor League Manager at San Francisco Giants

Follow

Ian Macdonald is a Minor League Manager in the San Francisco Giants organization, currently managing the organization's Dominican Summer League rookie affiliate. His primary responsibilities include coaching outfielders, team defense, baserunning, and serving as the team’s third-base coach. In 2025, the club posted a 36–20 record, and secured the DSL Southwest Division championship. Macdonald was selected as a coach for the 2025 DSL All-Star Game.

Before entering professional baseball, Macdonald served at Indiana Wesleyan University for three seasons, where he rose rapidly through the coaching ranks—from Assistant Coach to Associate Head Coach, and ultimately to Head Baseball Coach. During his tenure, the program achieved historic success, including the school’s first NAIA World Series appearance, a NAIA Regional championship, and a Crossroads League Tournament title.

Prior to Indiana Wesleyan University, Macdonald spent three seasons as the Recruiting Coordinator at the University of Charleston (WV). There, he helped guide the Golden Eagles to two NCAA Division II regional appearances, a Super Regional appearance, & signed four players who were drafted or signed by MLB organizations.

Before the University of Charleston, Macdonald served on staff at Grove City College (NCAA Division III) and served as the Director of Baseball Operations for Steel City Select (Pittsburgh, PA).
