Lecture Title: Flipping Your Program
My name is Steven Matthew Biera, I am 50 years old and out of those 50 years I have been married to my wife Laurie Biera for 22 years. Together, we have two daughters Avery (17) and Lauren (15). I graduated from Merkel High School in 1990, where I then attended and graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1995, while playing baseball for Bill Gilbreath (1991-1995, ACU Baseball). I have coached for 25 years, with stops including Abilene High, Hamlin, Brownfield, Plainview, Shallowater, Bangs, and I am currently at Sweetwater High School. While serving as head coach at all but one stop, I have compiled a record of 379 wins, a state playoff experience and two seasons of 30 or more wins, 7 district Championships, and have coached and mentored over a thousand young men. I have been blessed to have served as President of the Greater West Texas Baseball Coaches Association and have been elected as a member of the THSCA Baseball Advisory Committee for both Region 1 and 2. This year, I will begin my tenure as a Director for Region 1 THSBCA. We are currently members of 4th and Elm Church of Christ. I have been truly blessed to have worked for great men of character who have mentored me in leading by example. In my journey as an educator, I have been granted the opportunity to pursue my Master’s in Education. Sweetwater ISD has allowed me to coach while also serving as Dean of students.
