Marc Johnson, a CHSAA Hall of Famer, a Colorado Sports Hall of Fame and the winningest coach in state history. Johnson has been the Bruins’ head coach since 1973. In that span, he built Cherry Creek into Colorado’s preeminent big-school baseball power, with eight state titles, six runners-up, 32 Centennial League championships and a record 846 wins.

  • 1983 - American Baseball Coaches Association “Regional Coach of the Year”, Finalist for “National Coach of the Year”.
  • 1986 - Colorado High School Coaches Association “Coach of the Year” nominee.
  • 1986 - Named as the pitching coach for the United States Olympic Sports Festival “West” Team.
  • 1987 - Colorado High School Coaches Association “Colorado Coach of the Year” nominee.
  • 1987 - Named as the pitching coach for the United States Olympic Junior National Team that played in the World Tournament in Windsor, Canada. Silver Medal winners.
  • 1988 - Named Assistant Head Coach for the United States Junior National Olympic Team that played in the World Tournament in Sydney, Australia, December, 1988, Gold Medal winners defeating Cuba 8-1. This is the 1st World Championship for the U.S.A. Junior Team.
  • 1988 - Named by the United States Baseball Federation as the “Volunteer Summer Baseball Coach of the Year” sponsored by the Oscar Mayer Corporation.
  • 1988 - Colorado High School Coaches Association “Coach of the Year”.
  • 1989 - Named to the Colorado Collegiate Umpires Association as an “Honorary Member for Contributions Made to Baseball in the State of Colorado”. The first high school coach to be so named.
  • 1992 - Colorado 6A Baseball “Coach of the Year”, Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News and Colorado High School Coaches Association. Colorado Representative for “National Coach of the Year”.
  • 1992 - Recorded 300th high school victory.

  • 1994 - Named United States Connie Mack “Super Series” coach.
  • 1994 - Named speaker for National High School Coaches Convention.
