Building Your Defense - Drew Coffman, Decatur HS

Drew Coffman is entering his first year at Eaton High School after concluding his nine seasons as Decatur’s Boys Head Basketball Coach. Coffman has led the Eagles to 7 District Championships and Decatur's first ever State Tournament appearance in 2019. Before coaching at DHS, Coffman led successful programs at Hico and Kermit. Under Coffman’s leadership, the Hico Tigers advanced to the Regional Tournament and had a school record of winning 35 games. While at Kermit, Drew Coffman led the Yellowjackets to their first outright district title in 12 years. Coffman currently has 329 career wins.  

Coffman had a successful playing career at Texas Tech University and Midwestern State University. While at Texas Tech, Coffman was a reserve guard on two NCAA tournament teams. Coffman played for legendary coach Bob Knight. At Midwestern State, Coffman led the Mustangs to a Lonestar Conference Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth. Coffman was awarded First Team All-Lonestar and Daktronics First Team All-Region. 

Coach Coffman’s family includes his wife, Lana, who is an Elementary Principal in Decatur. He is blessed with three daughters Avery (16), Laken (13), and Maddyx (11). Coffman loves all sports, but is a huge fan of the Houston Astros, Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Lakers, and Texas Tech Red Raiders.
