The Coach

Conceptual Offense

Ganiyat Adeduntan is the current head coach of George Washington University's women's basketball program. She began her coaching career as head coach at Wheelock College (Division III) before serving as an assistant at Northeastern and then at GW, where she developed guards and wings and helped mentor two All-Conference guards in Mei-Lyn Bautista and Brianna Cummings. In 2021, she was named head coach at Colgate, where she took over a struggling program and delivered the most successful four-year stretch in school history: after an early 6-24 season, she built the Raiders up to a 20-14 campaign in 2023-24 (the first Super Sixteen WNIT appearance in Patriot League history) and then a 23-9 season in 2024-25, the best in program history, which included the program's first-ever win over a Big East opponent. She returned to GW as head coach in March 2025, and her first season led a rebuilding team to 18 wins and the WNIT Great Eight, the program's deepest postseason run in decades.

Before coaching, Adeduntan was a standout player at Florida State, where she scored over 1,000 points, earned All-ACC honors as a four-year letterwinner, and was a four-time ACC All-Academic honoree. Her path into coaching is also notable in that she spent seven years working as a nurse practitioner before making the full-time move into basketball; she holds a bachelor's and master's in nursing from Florida State and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Northeastern.
