The Coach

Conceptual Offense

Joe Crispin is the newly named head men's basketball coach at the Air Force Academy, appointed on March 18, 2026, after serving three seasons as assistant to the head coach at Penn State. As a player, Crispin was a standout four-year starter and team captain at Penn State, helping lead the program to three postseason tournament appearances, including the 2001 NCAA Sweet 16, where he scored 21 points in an upset win over a top-ranked North Carolina team. He remains among Penn State's all-time leaders in scoring, three-pointers made, assists, free throws, and field goals, and he earned multiple All-Big Ten honors during his college career.

After college, Crispin played professionally for the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns, won MVP honors in the ABA in 2004, and spent more than a decade playing overseas in Europe. His coaching career began at Rowan University, where he served as an assistant before taking over as head coach and leading the program to a 114-54 record, three NCAA Tournament appearances, two conference championships, and a Sweet 16 run in 2023. He then joined Penn State's staff as an assistant before being hired to lead Air Force. Crispin and his wife, Erin, a former Penn State soccer player, have five children.
