Keep It Sided: Layered Half-Court Defense with Paul Page

This course is a step-by-step build of a no-middle, “keep it sided” half-court defense. Coach Paul Page walks you through layered NBA-style closeouts (inside-foot, hand-in/hand-off), ball pressure and footwork, rebounding habits, and communication standards (“ball, ball… dead!”). You’ll progress from catch-and-shoot fly-bys into “guard-it” holds, shot-fake drives with the defender’s jump-back, and an eight-second guard segment ending in “shot and box.”

The progression then scales into live actions: two-balls-on-the-block DHO defense (trap, through, or switch), a quick 5-minute transition from closeouts into side–C–side shell, rip-the-slot/baseline drives with “take it” chest hits, help-the-helper, dirty/hammer passes and scramble outs. It all culminates in the “Kill Drill” (three consecutive stops) to hardwire toughness and tempo.
