Coach Matt Ripke has transformed Edon HS boys’ basketball into a contender in the vaunted Buckeye Border Conference.  The highly successful Ripke put Edgerton HS on the map before taking the head boys’ basketball coach & athletic director position at Edon HS.  Few coaches in northwest Ohio are as respected as Coach Matt Ripke.  Coach Matt Ripke compiled a career boys' basketball record of 185-99 (a .651 winning percentage) in 12 seasons at Edgerton High School. 

His historic tenure with the Bulldogs (2009–2021) includes several standout achievements: 

- The 2011–2012 Season: Posted the best year in school history with a 24-1 overall record, finishing the regular season 20-0. Ripke was named the Associated Press Division IV Boys Basketball Coach of the Year.

- Championships: Won two Green Meadows Conference (GMC) titles.

- Tournament Success: Reached the district tournament 10 times and made a pair of appearances in the regional tournament.

- Historical Standing: His 185 wins rank second in Edgerton boys basketball history, trailing only Babe Shoup (198 wins).
