David Thompson is Professor of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies at The University of Texas at San Antonio, and Principal Consultant with Thompson Education Consulting Group. Winding down his 34th year in Texas public education, David has been a public school and university teacher, coach, and administrator, having served as a high school assistant principal in Spring ISD and as a department chair at both Texas A&M University-Commerce and UTSA. The author or co-author of over 110 publications, David is co-author of Professional Responsibility for Educators and the Texas Code of Ethics (2nd Edition, Omni Publishers), the only book devoted exclusively to the Texas Educators’ Code of Ethics. David is a sought-after professional development speaker on legal and ethical issues facing educators, an experienced expert witness in cases involving standards of care for educators and, recently, an invited witness on educator sexual misconduct before the Texas Senate Education and House Public Education Committees. David is the recent recipient of a $301,000 grant from the Texas Office of the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division titled “Educator Sexual Misconduct in Texas: Research, Intervention, Prevention.”
