Returning to Sport After Illnessby NFHCA
At the podium, Pitticas presents "Returning to Sport After Illness" — an inspiring story about her journey through illness to Michigan State University where was a field hockey student-athlete.
Nicola Pitticas was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland and attended the University of Glasgow. It was during her time at university when Pitticas was diagnosed with cancer. After fighting the disease and beating it, she transferred to Michigan State University where she competed on the field hockey team and completed her degree in Classical Civilization and Ancient Greek.
Pitticas is now the founder and managing director of Summer in the City LTD and TitleIX Consultancy. Summer in the City LTD runs multi-sport and activities camps throughout Scotland for children between 4 and 14 years of age. Summer in the City employs over 12 people and has been going strong for a decade. Her other company, TitleIX Consultancy, works to help elite female athletes pursue NCAA playing careers in the United States.
