Branden Jakubcin: Defensive Leader at Heidelberg University

Branden Jakubcin has been a cornerstone of the Heidelberg University football program, serving as the Associate Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator, and Defensive Backs Coach. Since joining the coaching staff in 2007, he has played a crucial role in shaping the team's defensive identity. His dedication to excellence has been recognized at both the conference and national levels.

Coaching Accomplishments:

• Defensive Excellence: Led a defense that allowed just 16.2 points per game in 2022—the program's best mark since 1994.

• Award-Winning Leadership: Named Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Assistant Coach of the Year in 2022.

• Player Development: Mentored at least one All-OAC performer in each of his 14 seasons as a full-time assistant coach.

• Proven Track Record: Coached:

  • 25 All-OAC defensive backs

  • 8 All-Region honorees

  • 6 All-American defensive backs

Contributions Beyond the Field:

• Student Engagement: Serves as an advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, coordinating events like The Siggy Awards.
