Chris Stevens- Full Armor: Equipping Your Athletes for Their Future

Description

Quarterbacks Coach for the Alta Loma Braves High School, Chris Stevens, breaks down the main qualities of being a good coach and gives other coaches a glimpse at what it may take to helps student-athletes succeed. He details out both the WHY to being a coach and the armor of life that will give you good values to install into your team.

Coach Stevens explains that coaching is not for the money. You need to have a main objective, passion, and love for the sport of football and your players. Your main objective as a coach should be to provide a better high school experience so everyone becomes a better person around the game. A few more WHYs he mentions are to prepare your athletes for success on the field, prepare them to be positive members of society, protect and enhance the physical/emotional welfare of every person involved with your program, and much more!

Next Coach Stevens gets into equipping the full armor on your team and making your team have the best high school experience. He starts off the Full Armor set with the Belt of Truth. Physically the belt holds up the pants, but the belt of truth is a fundamental basis of how to lead your team. Testing with the truth makes you find strength in the game.

The next item in the set is the Helmet of Salvation. Physically, the helmet protects your head and mind on the football field. A good coach, friend, or teammate can also be this helmet by having your back.

The next item in the set is the Breastplate (Shoulder Pads) of Righteousness. It protects your heart and chest from anything coming in. As a coach you can protect your players' emotions by being a good counselor to them.

The next item in the set is the Sword of the Spirit (Playbook). It gives direction and is the basis of your attack. It is a part of the education for your team.

The next item in the set is the Shield of Faith (Strength Training). Your team's physicality is the first thing that goes out there on the field on Friday nights. Your team needs to be physically prepared from the weight room and conditioning to find success on the field.

The next item in the set is the Sandals (Cleats) of Peace. This makes you a tour guide for your players. How you can help them socially figure out their life and have a plan for their future.

The final item in the set is the Prayer Cover (Jersey and Pants). Coach Stevens believes in the power of prayer and you can be there for your team spiritually.

With this full armor set and course, you will learn how to be a great coach and be able to handle any type of disparity within the team. If you are a coach who wants a set of standards to lead your team by or need help developing your team culture, then this is the course for you!
