Denny Faith - Albany HS

Denny Faith graduated from Lovington, New Mexico in 1978 where he participated in football, basketball, baseball, and track. He received his B.S. degree from Lubbock Christian College in 1982 and later received his master’s degree in Mid-management in 1986 from Abilene Christian University.

Denney began his career as a junior high coach at Albany Independent School District in 1982.  He was promoted to head coach in 1987.  Since then, he has compiled an overall record of 344-110-4 ranking him third among active Texas high school coaches and fifth among overall active and retired coaches.  During his 36-year reign as head coach of the Lions he has had nineteen district championships, five state appearances with one state championship, along with nine semi-final and fourteen quarter final appearances.  In addition, he has participated in numerous regional, area, and bi-district playoff games bringing his playoff showing to 29 of 36 seasons with an overall playoff record of 72-28 while only compiling three losing seasons.  Other coaching achievements include District Coach of the Year nineteen times and Big Country Coach of the Year eight times in both 1A and 2A.   Additional coaching honors include AP Coach of the Year 2022, THSCA 2A Region 2 Coach of the Year 2022, Big Country Super Team Coach of the Year three times, FCA Male Coach of the Year for 2020-2021, Chuck Moser 2015 Male Coach of the Year by the Rotary Club of Abilene, and Citizen of the Year by the Albany Chamber of Commerce in 2010.  All 41 years of his career have been spent with the Albany Lions.   Of all his accomplishments Denney is most proud of the number of his former athletes that have entered the coaching and teaching profession.

Denney served on the Board of Directors for the Texas High School Coaches Association representing Region II from 2004 to 2006.  He had the privilege of coaching in the Myrle Greathouse Big Country FCA Football All Star Classic on three separate occasions.

 Denney and his wife, Angelyn, of 32 years have four children.   Aaron graduated from Texas A&M University and is currently coaching at Troy ISD.  Audrey graduated from Tarleton State University and is currently coaching at Colorado ISD.  Alex is pursuing a degree in education from Tarleton State University.  Adam graduated from Texas A&M University and is currently coaching at Abernathy ISD.
