The Coach
Garrett Clawson is a distinguished football coach specializing in special teams coordination and the development of elite specialists. A native of Duncansville, Pennsylvania, Clawson began his collegiate playing career at Temple University before transferring to Robert Morris University (RMU). At RMU, he earned First Team All-Northeast Conference (NEC) honors in 2009, setting a single-season record with 14 field goals, and concluded his career with 139 points, ranking fifth in school history. Transitioning into coaching, Clawson served as the Special Teams Coordinator and Running Backs Coach at Westminster College, where he notably improved the performance of the special teams unit. He returned to Saint Francis University in 2016, mentoring specialists who led the NEC in net punting and punt return average, with kicker Lance Geesey tying school records for field goals in a season and a game. In January 2019, Clawson joined Saint Vincent College as the Special Teams Coordinator and Linebackers Coach. During his tenure, he was instrumental in the development of kicker/punter Jared Gonzalez, who earned All-Presidents' Athletic Conference honors as a freshman. Under Clawson's guidance, Gonzalez achieved a perfect 15-for-15 on extra point attempts and ranked third in the conference with a 35.1-yard punting average. In March 2024, Clawson advanced to the University of Michigan, joining the Wolverines' coaching staff as a special teams analyst. His extensive experience and proven track record in developing elite specialists make him a valuable asset to any football program.
