Kevin Lewis joined Furman’s football program in February 2020 and has been instrumental in the success of the Paladin defensive line over the past three seasons. In 2022, his leadership contributed to a remarkable 10-3 record, a second-round playoff appearance, and a consensus FCS Top 10 final ranking. Furman’s defense excelled under his guidance, leading the Southern Conference in scoring defense (20.5 ppg) and producing impressive stats, including 31 sacks and the highest number of turnovers gained in FCS (29). Notably, consensus All-SoCon nose guard Cameron Coleman and defensive lineman Parker Stokes were standout players under Lewis’ coaching.

Before Furman, Lewis spent one season at Army West Point coaching the defensive front and five years at William & Mary, where he developed several All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) selections, including All-American Mike Reilly. Reilly was honored as the 2014 CAA Defensive Player of the Year, and signed with the Cleveland Browns. Lewis also coached at Dartmouth, and Richmond, and began his coaching career at Varina High School. A Virginia Tech graduate and former three-year starter, Lewis helped the Hokies win the 2004 ACC Championship and played professionally with the Hamburg Sea Devils in NFL Europe, as well as attending the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' training camp.
