The Coach
Sean Brophy joined the UNT Football staff as quarterbacks coach in December 2022.
In 2023, Brophy helped UNT finished No. 12 in the country in passing offense averaging 304.7 passing yards per game. Mean Green quarterbacks posted a 33-9 touchdown-to-interception ratio and a 147.30 passing efficiency rating on the season. In total, the UNT passing offense ranked inside the top-five in program history in passing yards, passing yards per game, completions and touchdowns after the 2023 season.
He spent 2022 as a graduate assistant at Washington State under North Texas head coach Eric Morris assisting with the quarterbacks.
During the 2021 season, his first in the coaching ranks, he served as an assistant wide receivers and quarterbacks coach at his alma mater, the University of Incarnate Word, under Morris and UNT offensive coordinator Jordan Davis.
In 2021, the Cardinals posted a 10-3 record, reached the FCS Playoffs for the second time in four seasons, while assisting in the development of current Cougar quarterback Cameron Ward, he threw for 4,648 yards and 47 touchdowns on the season.
Brophy was a three-year quarterback at UIW after transferring from Glendale Community College prior to the 2017 season. At UIW, he played for Morris for his final two seasons, helping the Cardinals to a Southland Conference title in 2018. A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Brophy graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English (2018) and a master’s of business administration (2019).
