Simplest 3-5-3

Coach Albaugh has been running the 3-5-3 since his second year as a head coach back in 2009.  In their first year in the defense, they changed their program around, won the conference championship going 8-1 and qualified for the playoffs.  Later, he and his staff helped to rebuild a larger program in Champaign, IL.  This simple defense has been a staple in their game plan since they took over an 0-9 program in 2013.  In 2015, he led the Maroons to a school record 11 wins and a trip to the state-semifinals.

Most recently Coach and his staff took over a small school program in Heyworth, IL that had just 17 players grades 9-12 and in 2023, just their 3rd year there, they won the conference championship.

After many years of tweaking and trying new concepts out of the 3-5, Coach Albaugh has found his own nitch within the system and considers it to be the simplest way to play the 3-5-3 effectively.
