Tommy Perry, who began coaching in 2004, became the first Colorado State coach devoted solely to special teams. He has spent the past five seasons of his career solely as a special teams coach and has held the title 12 other seasons at various stops, the first being at Texas A&M – -Commerce in 2005. A seasoned coach with extensive experience in special teams. Perry has dedicated the past five years solely to special teams coaching, showing remarkable success in improving units across various teams. Notably, his work at North Texas saw the Mean Green leading the nation in blocked kicks and showcasing strong coverage and kicking units that consistently ranked in the top 20 nationally.

Perry's recent achievements include winning a Conference USA championship with UTSA in 2021, where his coaching led to standout performances from players like punter Lucas Dean and placekicker Hunter Duplessis, both earning national recognition for their skills and contributions to the team. Perry's return to Colorado State reunites him with Jay Norvell, highlighting his proven track record in enhancing special teams' performance and player development throughout his coaching career.
