Willie Fritz - Houston
Willie Fritz has been a head football coach since 1993 in a career that spans back to its start in 1982. He has amassed a career record of 236-119-1 including back-back national championships at the junior college level, back-to-back national championship game appearances at the FCS level, and leading 5 teams to FBS bowl games. Fritz capped off this past season by leading the #9 ranked Green Wave to a Cotton Bowl victory. In four seasons at Blinn Junior College, he achieved an overall record of 39-5-1 with consecutive national championships in 1995 and 1996. He then took over at the University of Central Missouri becoming the winningest head coach in school history over his 13 seasons there. In four seasons at Sam Houston, his teams went a combined 40-15 and played for two consecutive national championships in 2011 and 2012. At Georgia Southern he led the 2014 team to an undefeated Sun Belt Conference Championship and then led the 2015 team to its first ever FBS bowl game appearance. Fritz has been the head coach at Tulane since December 2015, taking over a program that had only won 41 games in the previous 12 seasons. In his seven seasons at Tulane, he has led the Green Wave to 43 wins, first-ever consecutive bowl victories, first-ever three consecutive bowl game appearances, and first-ever stretch of four bowl game appearances in five seasons. In 2022, the Green Wave capped off the greatest turnaround in school history with the AAC Championship and Cotton Bowl victory. That team finished 12-2 and ranked #9 in the final poll.
