Cat Osterman – US Olympian, Hall of Famer, GM of the Texas Volts

Cat Osterman is one of the most decorated athletes in softball history—an Olympic gold and silver medalist, three-time USA Softball National Player of the Year, and NCAA legend. In 2024, Osterman took on a new leadership role as General Manager of the Texas Volts, bringing her elite-level experience to the professional ranks.

A Houston native, Osterman starred at the University of Texas, where she led the Longhorns to three Women’s College World Series appearances and still holds school records in wins (136), ERA (0.51), and strikeouts (2,265). She was also the only player to earn USA Softball’s National Player of the Year honors three times (2003, 2005, 2006).

Her international résumé spans two decades, representing Team USA in three Olympics (2004, 2008, 2020), winning gold in Athens and silver in both Beijing and Tokyo. She finished her USA career with a remarkable 74-5 record and a 0.44 ERA, striking out 1,030 batters in just 519 innings.

In the professional ranks, Osterman dominated the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) League with four league titles and multiple Pitcher of the Year honors. She was inducted into both the Texas Sports Hall of Fame (2013) and the Little League® Hall of Excellence (2016).

After retiring from pitching, she transitioned to coaching, including stints at Texas State and St. Edward’s University. She also earned a master’s in educational and counseling psychology from the University of Missouri, with a focus in positive coaching.

Now as GM of the Texas Volts, Osterman continues to elevate the game—this time from the front office.
