James Landreneau - McNeese State Univ.
James Landreneau, a native of Mamou, La., started his collegiate coaching career at McNeese in 2014 as an assistant coach. He was promoted to head coach in the 2016-2017 season. Since then, he has overall career record of 258-141 and a conference record of 118-35. He’s a two-time Southland Conference Coach of the Year (2017, 2022) and most recently earned NFCA South-Region Coaching Staff of the Year in 2023. He’s won five Southland Conference Tournament titles, three Regular Season titles, and owns a 19-2 record in conference tournament play.
In six seasons, Coach Landreneau has guided his squad to five NCAA Regional appearances. In 2023, the Cowgirls ended their season at its second consecutive NCAA Regional Championship game. They won a school record 47 games, 23 shutouts, and picked up wins over ranked teams LSU, Washington (twice), and North Texas. The Cowgirls were ranked as high as 22nd in Softball America College Top 25 Poll.
