Improve Your Swim Techniqueby WayneOwide
Improve your swimming technique with Wayne Owide, fitness expert at swimmingcyclingrunning.com
Wayne Owide is the head coach with Jetstream Tri Club and senior coach with the borough of Harrow swimming club, whose interest in the sport started when he entered the inaugural London Triathlon.
After competing in the first 2 of these he realised there was more to triathlon than just competing, decided it would be a good community venture and excellent experience to begin putting on races.
Already coaching swimming Wayne saw a gap in the coaching structure of triathlon in the UK. The system was "Top Heavy" with many coaches aimed at teaching adults but few coaching youngsters, exactly the opposite to other sports. So he set out to study triathlon coaching specifically to redress this balance and now has an enviable track record, having many athletes represent their regions at the UK Inter Regional Championships.
As one of the most experienced Level 3 Triathlon (accredited for coaching athletes with disabilities) and Swim coaches in the UK, he is currently Head Coach of Jetstream Triathlon Club and senior coach with Harrow & Wealdstone Swimming Club. He also coaches triathlon groups at David Lloyd, leads sessions for British Triathlon (London Region) and has a growing list of personal clients, whom he coaches all the way to world championship levels. He is also a Coach Mentor for British Triathlon.
Specialising in the technical and biomechanical elements of the 3 sports his aim is to perfect the technique of all his athletes, whether they are Elite, Age Groupers or complete novices in their first season. He also believes in goal led training, where athletes have specific achievable targets throughout the season and designs specific training programmes aimed at achieving those targets.
He also has a good deal of experience filming and analysing athletes swimming, cycling and running and conducts his own filming and analysis at venues around the south of england using his own mobile underwater video equipment.
