Gilles Cervara, a French tennis coach, initially pursued a professional playing career but transitioned to coaching after his aspirations at the Tour level remained unfulfilled. His prominence surged following his collaboration with Russian tennis prodigy Daniil Medvedev, which commenced in September 2017 and endures to date.

Cervara's own playing experience includes participation in various ITF Futures tournaments from 1999 to 2006, where he achieved a modest 5-13 win-loss record as a professional. Since dedicating himself full-time to coaching, particularly with Medvedev, Cervara has steered his protege to notable triumphs, including clinching the 2021 US Open title, securing 13 additional ATP singles titles, and attaining the prestigious world No. 1 ranking.

Recognized for his exceptional coaching Acumen, Cervara was honored with the Coach of the Year accolade at the 2019 ATP Awards, a testament to his profound impact on Medvedev's career trajectory. Furthermore, he received nominations for the same award in 2020 and 2021, underscoring his consistent contribution to the sport.
