The Coach

Luke Jensen is a former professional tennis player, college tennis coach, and internationally respected tennis educator with decades of experience in elite competition and player development. Raised in a small town in Michigan, Jensen grew up immersed in the sport as a coach’s kid. His father was a high school tennis coach and physical education teacher. At the same time, his mother worked as a physical education teacher and gymnastics coach during the early years. This upbringing shaped his lifelong commitment to coaching, leadership, and athlete development.

Jensen competed on the ATP Tour from the late 1980s through the 1990s, winning 10 ATP Tour doubles titles and reaching a career-high ATP doubles ranking of World No. 6 in 1993. He is best known as the 1993 French Open Men’s Doubles Champion, capturing the Grand Slam title alongside his brother, Murphy Jensen. Nicknamed “Dual Hand Luke,” he gained global recognition for his rare ability to serve with both his left and right hands, a unique skill that made him one of the most distinctive players of his era.

After retiring from professional tennis, Jensen transitioned into coaching, broadcasting, and tennis development. He worked as a tennis analyst and broadcaster for ESPN. He later served as head coach of the Syracuse University women’s tennis program, where he helped guide the team’s competitive and academic success. Today, Jensen remains deeply involved in the sport through coaching clinics, keynote speaking, community programs, and charitable initiatives, with a focus on player mindset, long-term development, and the critical role high school and grassroots coaches play in growing the game of tennis.
