The Coach

Chad Gunnelson is a coach at Augustana and a longtime supporter of the Women for Women Conference, having attended every year since its inception. Now in his 21st year coaching girls and women, he is passionate about building programs rooted in trust, culture, and athlete-centered leadership.

A Madison, Wisconsin native, Chad played football and competed in track before playing college football at Southwest Minnesota State. He began his coaching career at age 22 at Madison East High School, later coaching at the University of Dubuque, where he helped grow and rebuild the track and cross country programs.

Chad’s philosophy has been shaped by the women he has coached and coached alongside. His work focuses on cultivating confidence, leading with empathy, and helping create stronger pathways for women in coaching.
