Lesson 5:
Out of System
No setter in the world is 100% consistent. Therefore, we need to be able to adjust our approach to put ourselves in the best position to make a play. "Out of System" means that the set may be coming from a libero or another player on the court because the setter took the 1st contact, or its a scramble play and the team is just trying to get the ball up. This typically is coached to be a higher set, therefore, it gives us time as hitters to determine where to lead our approach. The timing is typically more difficult with this. Make sure to wait so that you can still achieve a slow --> fast approach and have momentum going into the ball.
