Lecture Title: The Other Side of Infield Play

Bernie Martinez will be coaching for his 25th season in 2020-2021.  Martinez, a New Jersey native played collegiately at Rutgers University, County College of Morris, and LeTourneau University.  He has coached at Longview High School, The Woodlands High School (Conroe ISD), LeTourneau University, University of Texas at Tyler, and Frisco Heritage High School (Frisco ISD).   In addition, he coached a season (2007) in the Texas Collegiate League for the Mineral Well Steam.  Coach Martinez has coached several that have moved on to the next level but most noteworthy are Dez Chumley 2015 Tampa Bay Devil Ray draft choice and Jackson State Tiger Alum, Reid Russell, Houston Astros draft choice, former TJC Apache (back-to-back National Championships) and current Homerun record holder at Lamar University (18 in 2016).  Reid just finished 3rd in the 2017 CWS Homerun Derby in Omaha.  Ryan Goins who is going into his 9th season currently with the Oakland Athletics.  Last but certainly not least, our very own Jacob Burton who is currently in his third season pitching for the Arkansas Razorbacks; Cade Medlin pitching for Texas St.; Austin Green playing at Weatherford College; and Mason Muller pitching at Clarendon College.    Coach Martinez is married (15 years) to Janelle Martinez (formerly Bowser) and they have 6 children; Marcus 26, Isaiah 19, Alyson 15, Gabriella 13, Maxwell 11, and our Sweet Angel Sam.
