Juan Nieves, is a distinguished figure in professional baseball, both as a former Major League pitcher and a seasoned coach. His career is marked by significant achievements and contributions to the sport.
Playing Career:
Nieves began his ascent in baseball at Avon Old Farms School in Connecticut, where he showcased exceptional talent with a 19–1 win-loss record and a 1.05 ERA during his senior year. This performance led to his signing with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1983. He made his MLB debut on April 10, 1986, and quickly made history by pitching a no-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles on April 15, 1987, becoming the second-youngest player to achieve this feat and the first for the Brewers. His promising career as a pitcher was unfortunately cut short due to a shoulder injury after three seasons.
Coaching Career:
Transitioning into coaching, Nieves brought his on-field experience to various teams:
