1-2-2 / 3-4 Court Press
by Pat ChambersDescription
- A 1-2-2 3/4-court press, the two biggest guys are at the back, the best athlete is at the top, the next two guys are on the wings. They line up in a 1-2-2 but then do different things (they have calls for each).
- Trap, go back man-to-man.
- Fake trap, match-up man-to-man.
- Fake trap in the (opposition) backcourt, match up, trap over halfcourt on a sideline (halfcourt blitz).
- Press to create turnovers, shorten the shot clock, create energy for their guys
- always want an aggressive mindset, and in time and score situations
- slow up a team that is trying to get a quick shot. They want to press (get traps, deflections, steals, dives from behind), but not give up 3s.
