The Coach
Michael Thomas is the head coach of the Denton High School boys basketball program (Texas). He was hired in 2022 to rebuild a program that had struggled (only a few wins in the prior season). Coming from Calvert High School (a smaller school), he is known for instilling discipline, defense, effort, and raising team standards. He coaches his son MJ Thomas, a standout player, among others. His family has deep basketball roots in the Denton area: his father Henry Thomas and sister are also coaches.
