The Coach
Tom Asbury completed two stints as the head coach of Pepperdine from 1988-94 and from 2008-11. He took the Waves to the NCAA Tournament in 1991, 1992 and 1994, as well as two NIT appearances, three regular-season WCC titles and three WCC Tournament championships. In October 2012, Asbury was inducted into the Pepperdine Athletics Hall of Fame. He left Pepperdine in 1994 to become the head coach at Kansas State. Asbury coached the Wildcats until 2000 and led the program to one NCAA Tournament bid and to the NIT. He joined Coach Mark Gottfried at Alabama prior to the 2003-04 season. In four years together at Alabama, the duo helped guide the Crimson Tide to three NCAA Tournament appearances together, He also assisted Coach Gottfreid again on the North Carolina State University Men's Basketball coaching staff, as a basketball analyst for the 2016-17 season. Asbury posted a 238-215 (.525) record in 15 seasons as a college head coach.
