Defense wins championships. Coaches always epmhesize defense as bread and butter of their team identity, but you can't have great defensive team with poor culture. Players need to be motivated to play great defense and make it as their priority to be a great defensive team. Coach Yaklich shares his philosophy on how was he able to help build great defensive teams at the University of Michigan with Coach Belein and at the University of Texas with Coach Shaka Smart. 

In this course, Coach Yaklich breaks down fundemantals of great defensive culture into:

• Setting up defensive goals for your team
• Leadership
• Attitude
• Communication
• Hustle
• How to evaluate game film for defense
• Drills that translate to the game
• Basic fundemantals of defense: Transition Defense, Ball Screen Defense, On Ball Defense and Help Defense

Coach Luke Yaklich is the head coach of the men's basketball team at the University of Illinois at Chicago (2020). Coach Yaklich has worked under two of the game's greats in Shaka Smart (Texas) and Jim Beilein (Michigan). Coach Yaklich was part of the 2018 NCAA finalist team.
