When I was a Girls Varsity coach at Tri Untiy Christian we used to only keep Turnover stats. Turnovers for us and our opponent and Turnover Percentage. Our simple goal was to create more than 30 turnovers per game and to be a -8 turnovers per game. This plan worked and we created 33.7 Turnovers per game while having 3 games where we created over 40 turnovers in a game. Due to this system, we won 8 of our last 9 games after a slow start. This is a video with the sytem and drills. We really wanted to win the Turnover battle and get us an additional 8 possessions each game. Its a basic face guard and switch everyhting while always having someone protect the hoop with full court pressure, Slobs, and blobs coverage and running and jumping all actions.
Turnover Percentage is defined by basketball-reference as an “estimate of turnovers per 100 plays.” The formula is 100 * TOV / (FGA + 0.44 * FTA + TOV).
