The Coach

The ArBCA was formed in 2012. Its first Executive Director was legendary Hendrix College Coach, Cliff Garrison. The Association began with a clinic in the fall of 2012 attended by over 200 members. The ArBCA then added a Top 5 banquet in the spring of 2014 that honors the starting 5 from all classifications as well as a Coach of the Year for each classification. Typically, over 300 players, parents, and coaches attend this event. These have become the two major events for the ArBCA. The clinics and the membership have quickly grown to over 500 in each of the last four school years. The ArBCA also sponsors college program of the year awards. In 2019, the NCAA allowed for a scholastic recruiting weekend in June. With the assistance of the AAA, the ArBCA sponsored 25 players on a trip to the Midwest Showcase in Kansas City, MO. Over 140 college coaches (and several DI Head Coaches) attended the event. The states partnering to put this showcase on were Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, and Oklahoma along with Arkansas. The relationship with the National High School Basketball Coaches Association was responsible for our invite to this partnership. We have attended the NHSBCA National Conference in 7 of the 8 years that we have been an association. The ArBCA continues to look for ways to grow and improve as an association.
