The Coach
Mark Ellis is in his first years as the Director of Olympic Sports Performance joining Northwestern in June of 2023. Ellis oversees all 18 Olympic Varsity sports and works directly with Field Hockey, Wrestling & Men’s Tennis.
Before joining the Wildcat staff, Mark spent three seasons as Assistant Performance Coach at Princeton University. With the Tigers, Ellis spent time with men’s lacrosse, soccer, swimming, women’s tennis, men’s and women’s diving. He also directed all aspects of the speed development & Catapult GPS system for the men’s lacrosse team where he analyzed all data from practices and games.
Prior to his stop at Princeton, the 29-year-old Ellis worked with the highly ranked Stony Brook women’s lacrosse team during the 2021 season. While at Stony Brook, he also oversaw training for the women’s swimming and dive team.
Ellis graduated from Stony Brook in 2017 with a Bachelor of Art degree in multidisciplinary studies. He was also a member of the Stony Brook lacrosse team. Following his undergraduate degree Ellis pursued a graduate degree in sports science from Hofstra university where he was a Scholar All-America lacrosse athlete.
After his collegiate lacrosse career Mark continued his lacrosse career as a professional in Major League Lacrosse as a member of the New York Lizards for 2 seasons. Mark is NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) as well as Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC)
