Andrew Dresner - Win on 3rd Down

Description

In this course, Andrew Dresner, offensive coordinator at Stony Brook, takes you through the goals they have on third down, their strategy and plan for each of the 3rd down areas of 3rd & Short, 3rd & Medium, 3rd & Long, and 3rd & XL.  Under Coach Dresner's guidance at Maine, they were able to convert 48% of the 3rd downs they faced in their conference.

He breaks down four of his favorite 3rd Down concepts: the Option Route, Rub, Screens, and  Quick Screens.  He shares and explains  the diagrams, the "QB Think Box" and then illustrates and analyzes each play on game film.

Stony Brook University named Andrew Dresner offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach in January 2023. Prior to joining the Stony Brook he spent five-years at  Maine, four of which were as the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach.

Under his guidance at  Maine, the Black Bears’ offense ranked within the top five of the CAA in scoring in four out of his five seasons on staff. Including a #1 CAA passing offense in 2019 and the spring of 2021.

Dresner’s leadership was on full display when he was tabbed Maine’s interim head coach in December 2021. During that time, the Black Bears were able bring in a high-level early signing class and retain key pieces of their roster prior to the 2022 campaign.

During his time at Maine, Dresner aided in the development of three student-athletes who went on to sign professional contracts in the NFL and CFL. The trio of Earnest Edwards (Rams), Andre Miller (Giants), and Liam Dobson (Blue Bombers) shined under Dresner’s guidance as he helped them prepare for the next level.

In 2022, Maine ranked second in the country in red zone offense (29/30 with 26 touchdowns), fourth in fewest interceptions thrown (six INTs on 368 passes thrown), and fifth in fewest turnovers (nine in 739 total plays). In CAA play, the Black Bears were first in the conference in red zone offense, third down offense, and fewest turnovers, and they ranked third in rushing offense (175.4 yards per game). Over the 2021 and 2022 seasons, no FCS team lost fewer turnovers (19) than Maine.
