Rhett Lashlee - SMU
Rhett Lashlee returned to SMU as Head Football Coach on Nov. 29, 2021. Lashlee previously served as the offensive coordinator for the 2018 and record-setting 2019 campaign, where he helped guide the offense in setting a school record with 35 rushing touchdowns and 10 wins, which were the school’s most since the 1984 season. During his first season as Head Football Coach in 2022, he helped lead SMU to a 7-5 regular season record and an appearance in the New Mexico Bowl against BYU. The Mustangs ranked 14th in the nation in total offense and 12th in scoring offense.
Before his return as Head Football Coach at SMU, Lashlee was the offensive coordinator at Miami during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. During his time at Miami, the Hurricanes went from No. 98 in total offense to No. 32 (during the 2020 season) and No. 22 (during the 2021 season). Lashlee also helped make the Hurricanes a scoring threat, going from No. 90 in total offense to No. 26 (during the 2020 and 2021 seasons). Before his first stop at SMU in 2018, Lashlee served as an offensive coordinator for seven seasons, spending the 2017 season at UConn, 2013-2016 seasons at Auburn, 2012 season at Arkansas State, and the 2011 season at Samford.
Lashlee graduated from Arkansas in 2006 with a degree in marketing and business administration. He received his master’s degree in higher education from Auburn in 2009. He is married to the former Lauren Lee and has twin sons, Thomas and Hudson, and twin daughters, Rowyn, and Scarlet.
