The Coach
Chad Braun took on the head coach role for Monmouth football in 2015, following a successful tenure as defensive coordinator for 15 seasons. Quickly establishing himself, Braun secured a Midwest Conference title in his second season as head coach and repeated the feat in 2017, marking the Scots' first back-to-back championships since Braun's earlier assistant days. His leadership led to another conference title in 2019, accompanied by his fifth consecutive Coach of the Year honor from the Midwest Conference. Known for his defensive expertise, Braun's teams have consistently excelled, with standout performances such as leading the nation in scoring defense in 2016 and 2018.
In addition to his football coaching success, Braun is also Monmouth's most successful men's tennis coach, having led the team from 2004 to 2014 with an impressive record and numerous championship titles. Before his coaching career at Monmouth, Braun gained experience coaching at MacMurray College and Jacksonville High School. A graduate of Illinois College, Braun's coaching prowess and dedication to both football and tennis have significantly contributed to the success and legacy of Monmouth's athletics programs.
