In February of 2019, Coach Cherokee Valeria joined the Sacramento State Staff as the Defensive Passing Game Coordinator and Cornerbacks Coach. After joining the staff in 2019, compared to the 2018 season, the Hornets' defense doubled their amount of interceptions.
Prior to coaching at Sacramento State, he spent 7 seasons at Eastern Washington as the cornerbacks coach.
In 2011, he was an assistant coach at Southeast Missouri.
In 2010, he was the director of football operations at Cal Poly.
From 2007-2010, He coached at Idaho State University
He coached the cornerbacks at Central Washington from 2005-2006.
From 1998-2004, Valeria coached two seasons each at Cedarcrest and Ellensburg high schools in Washington State.
