Dave Plungas has been an integral part of RMU's football program for six seasons, serving as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator. In addition to his coaching roles, he mentors linebackers, devises game strategies, and recruits from specific areas. Plungas's coaching philosophy aligns with head coach Bernard Clark, Jr.'s emphasis on a strong base defense and a culture of fast, physical play. Under Plungas's guidance, RMU's defense has achieved notable rankings and players like Jamar Shegog and Eli Mencer have excelled, earning recognition for their performances. Before joining RMU, Plungas had successful coaching stints at the University at Albany and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, contributing to defensive prowess and player development at both institutions. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Albany and has a background as a standout linebacker during his collegiate years.
