Deep Shots: Building an Explosive Vertical Passing Game
by Tilford Myers
Description
This course provides a complete breakdown of our vertical shot passing game within a fast-paced no-huddle offense designed to create explosive plays and stress defenses at every level. Built for high school and college coaches, this clinic-style course details the concepts, formations, quarterback progression reads, route techniques, and coaching points we use to attack defenses vertically while maintaining offensive balance and efficiency.
Throughout the course, coaches will learn how we teach and execute concepts such as 4 Verts, Sail, Cross, Switch, and other explosive shot concepts against multiple coverages and defensive structures. We will cover quarterback footwork and reads, receiver route details, protection structure, and the adjustments we use versus pressure, drop coverage, and different defensive looks.
This is not simply a collection of plays — it is a system designed to create answers. Coaches will gain insight into how we sequence concepts, create explosive opportunities, and build a vertical passing attack that complements the run game while fitting within an up-tempo offensive philosophy.
Whether you are an Air Raid coach, Spread coach, Under Center coach, Wing-T coach, or simply looking to improve your passing attack, this course provides practical, game-ready material that can be installed quickly and adapted to your personnel.
By the end of the course, coaches will walk away with proven concepts, teaching progressions, and coaching tools that can immediately help improve offensive efficiency, generate explosive plays, and attack defenses with confidence.

The Coach
Tilford Myers currently serves as the Offensive Coordinator, Quarterbacks Coach, and Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Almeta Crawford High School in Fort Bend ISD (TX).
In 2025, Crawford finished with a 12-2 record and advanced to the Regional Final (Elite Eight) while fielding one of the most explosive offenses in Texas. Operating out of a fast-paced no-huddle system, the Chargers averaged 43 points per game and totaled 5,752 yards of offense, including 3,420 passing yards and 2,332 rushing yards.
The offense featured a 3,000-yard passer, two 1,000-yard receivers, another receiver with over 500 receiving yards, and two running backs who rushed for over 500 yards each.
Throughout his coaching career, Coach Myers has worked within multiple offensive systems, including the Double Wing, Wing-T, Spread, Air Raid, and Run and Shoot. This diverse background has helped shape a modern attacking philosophy built around tempo, spacing, explosive plays, and putting defenders in conflict.
This course provides the exact concepts, coaching points, teaching progressions, and game-planning ideas used within Crawford’s vertical passing attack. Coaches will gain practical tools that can be installed immediately to create explosive plays and improve efficiency in their own passing game.
