KISS Kick Return - Keep It Simple Stupidby PSFCA
Kick-Off Returns are the easiest way to score points and keep the pressure off the offense. The key is to Keep It Simple Stupid.
In this course, Coach Ross Pennypacker discusses the KISS formula. He breaks down the key traits of a successful special team. The ball is the program, less is more, and master the mundane. Coach shares the kick-off return goals like winning one on one matchups, gaining 25 + yards, and obtaining man leverage.

Ross Pennypacker is Assistant Coach (Special Teams Coordinator/Defensive Run Game Coordinator/Defensive Line) at Villanova. Pennypacker spent four seasons as the Defensive Coordinator and safeties coach at Kutztown before returning to Villanova. While coaching the Bears, he mentored 15 defensive players who earned All-PSAC honors. Pennypacker’s defenses tallied three shutouts and ranked in the top half of the PSAC in rushing defense and turnover margin. Kutztown led the PSAC in red zone defense in 2014 and ranked in the top three in the league in total defense and turnover margin. Perhaps even more impressively, the Bears were 15-1 during Pennypacker’s time on staff when the defense held opponents to fewer than 24 points.
