Ryan Garrett is in his second season as the wide receivers coach for Jax State under head coach Rich Rodriguez in 2023. He was one of Rodriguez's first hires at Jax State, following him from ULM, where Garrett served as a graduate assistant in 2021. In his debut season at Jax State in 2022, Garrett contributed to the Gamecocks' impressive 9-2 record, a perfect 5-0 conference record, and the ASUN Conference title. The team excelled offensively, ranking fifth nationally in yards per reception and tenth in scoring offense, with fourteen different players catching passes and nine finding the end zone.

Before at Jax State, Garrett helped ULM improve significantly in 2021, aiding in their four-game improvement from a winless season under head coach Terry Bowden. He also served as the pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach at West Virginia State in 2020, though the season was shortened by COVID-19. Garrett began his coaching career at Ole Miss, working as a student assistant and then as an offensive graduate assistant with the quarterbacks under Rodriguez in 2019. He played college football at Emory & Henry College before transitioning to coaching at Ole Miss.
