Press Coverage

Palms Cover 2, also known as “press” for short is most commonly employed by cornerbacks. In press man, a defender lines up close to the line of scrimmage, facing the receiver. This puts him in strong position to defend the short pass – he’s not conceding any ground with a cushion, and he can hit or “jam” the receiver within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage, preventing the receiver from getting into his route and disrupting the timing of the passing offense. In this course Adam Harvey will be discussing all of the techniques and concepts in running a press concept for defensive backs.

Adam Harvey

Coach Harvey is a 15-year coaching veteran. He was the DB coach for San Antonio powerhouse, Cibolo Steele. Just recently he accepted the position of defensive coordinator for the Hutto Hippos. In his five seasons as the Knights DB coach, he has led 11 athletes to the collegiate ranks playing for programs such as University of Texas, Oklahoma State University, Baylor University, Sam Houston State University, and several DII and DIII schools. He currently has a pool of athletes with power five offers, and Steele High School is quickly becoming recognized as the best secondary in Texas and beyond. Coach Harvey is married to Lindsey and together they have two boys.
