The Four Phases of Offensive Line Development
by Jared SouthersDescription
Dive in to learn my four phases of offensive line development. Phase 1, the stance and posture phase, is the foundation of effective offensive line play and will teach the fundamental positions and postures that all offensive linemen need to be able to maintain. Phase 2, the drive phase, teaches us how to generate power from our stance. Phase 3, the redirection/multi-directional movement phase, teaches us how to change direction with independent feet. Finally, Phase 4, the hand eye phase, is where we tie everything together and learn how to incorporate our hands with our feet and execute.

The Coach
Jared is one of the rising young names in the offensive line industry with an
innovative and adaptive approach to offensive line coaching and
development. Jaredʼs coaching philosophy is, “there is a right way and a
wrong way, but there is no one way of doing thingsˮ.
Jared has worked with some of the NFLʼs top talent, such as All-Pro Andrew
Thomas and Super Bowl Champion Tyler Steen. Jared had several clients
selected in the 2025 NFL draft such as: Branson Taylor and Garrett
Dellinger. All of the 2025 prospects that he coached were drafted or signed
with NFL teams as UDFAs.
Jared started in both the SEC and ACC at Vanderbilt University and at
Georgia Tech, where he was a team captain. He played all five positions on
the offensive line in college, which gives him a unique perspective as a
coach through his lived experience.
