The Coach
Bill DeLongis is in his 16th year as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach, with experience spanning all three NCAA divisions. Since 2017, he has worked seasonally with USA Women’s Hockey, contributing to the development of the National Team and serving as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the U18 National Team from 2018–2023 and again from 2026–present. He was also the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the 2024 USA Women’s Hockey Collegiate Team that captured the Euro Tour Championship. In addition, Bill has coached at numerous USA Hockey Development Camps, including U15, U18, and U19 levels.
Beyond his S&C responsibilities, DeLongis is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Exercise Science at Central Connecticut State University, Chair of the NSCA Ice Hockey Special Interest Group (SIG), and the founder of the Strength on Ice Summit and the Strength on the Gridiron Summit.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Fitness and Wellness from Winthrop University and a Master’s degree in Education with a concentration in Experiential Education from Plymouth State University. A current strongman competitor and former powerlifter, DeLongis brings a unique perspective as both a coach and athlete to the field of sport performance. He regularly contributes to the industry through written work featured on Pro Hockey Strength, STACK Magazine, TrainHeroic, and Breaking Muscle. His innovative approach to athlete development and recovery has gained national recognition, including features in The Wall Street Journal and CBS for his use of power tools as a soft tissue recovery method, as well as The Athletic for his work training hockey athletes.
