The Coach
Teresa Flores Lentz
Teresa Flores Lentz has served as the head softball coach at Calallen High School in Corpus Christi for the past nine years. During her tenure, her teams have compiled an impressive 195-95 record, made two state finalist appearances, captured two regional titles, two district championships, and advanced to the playoffs five times.
Coach Lentz is a graduate of Texas Woman’s University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Adaptive Physical Education. At TWU, she was named the Lone Star Conference South Division Player of the Year and earned NCAA Division II All-America honors at shortstop in 2004. She set several program records that still stand today and later served as a student assistant. In recognition of her outstanding career, she was inducted into the TWU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013.
She began her coaching career as an assistant at Rockport-Fulton High School (2005–2006) before serving as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio in 2007. Coach Lentz went on to earn a master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Texas, where she was a graduate assistant with the Lady Longhorns softball team from 2007–2008.
From 2008–2011, she served as an assistant coach at Texas A&M–Corpus Christi, helping guide the Islanders to a Southland Conference Championship in 2011.
As a player, Lentz competed at the highest levels of the game. She played for some of the nation’s top softball programs, including the Schutt Hurricanes (2003), the California Sunbirds of the National Professional Fastpitch League (2005), and Storm USA (2007). She also competed in the prestigious Canada Cup and toured Europe with a collegiate all-star team in the summer of 2002.
A standout at Corpus Christi Miller High School, she earned All-District, All-South Texas, and All-State honors as a shortstop. In 2016, she was inducted into the Buccaneers Athletics Hall of Fame at Miller High School.
