Chris Breaux - Skill Progression Drills For Singles & Doubles

by TTCA Texas Tennis Coaches Association
Chris Breaux - Skill Progression Drills For Singles & Doubles

Description

If your practices feel chaotic, inconsistent, or too focused on “hitting hard,” this course gives you a clear, repeatable system to build real tennis skills: control, footwork, consistency, and competitive toughness.

You’ll learn how to start every session with mini tennis and an extended warmup that grooves strokes, improves contact out in front, and forces players to control the ball instead of swinging bigger than their level. From there, the coach walks you through simple, high-rep drills you can scale for middle school, high school, private lessons, or large teams, even when court space is tight.

Ready to run practices that actually translate to wins?

Enroll now and start using these drills in your very next session—so your players get more touches, better footwork, and stronger match focus fast.

The Coach

Chris Breaux is the Head Tennis Coach at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas, where he leads both the men’s and women’s tennis programs. He was promoted to the head coaching position on June 24, 2020 after previously serving as an assistant coach and standout player for the War Hawks.

Under his leadership, McMurry’s tennis teams have competed in the American Southwest Conference, with both the men’s and women’s squads earning postseason appearances. In his first season (Spring 2021), Breaux guided both programs to conference semifinal finishes and coached doubles teams to the NCAA Division III National Championships.

Breaux is a McMurry University alumnus, having played four seasons (2010–2014) for the War Hawks. As a student–athlete, he compiled a strong career record in singles and doubles, won the 2014 ITA regional doubles championship, and helped his team to multiple national tournament appearances.

Before returning to McMurry’s staff, Breaux coached at Clack Middle School for three years, worked as a counselor at Baylor University Tennis Camp, and has been involved with McMurry’s tennis camps for nearly a decade.
