The Coach

Howard Joffe has an extensive coaching background spanning 16 seasons as a collegiate head coach, including nine seasons at Texas. He has earned numerous honors and awards throughout his coaching career, including the 2021 ITA Division I Women’s National Coach of the Year and the 2018 Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year.

Under Joffe's leadership, the Texas Women’s Tennis program has achieved significant success, including back-to-back NCAA team championships in 2021 and 2022. During his tenure, Texas has consistently ranked in the top 10 nationally, claiming multiple Big 12 regular-season and tournament titles.

Joffe's coaching achievements extend beyond team successes, with several individual players earning accolades such as ITA All-America honors and conference recognitions. Peyton Stearns notably won the Honda Sport Award for Tennis and the ITA National Player of the Year in 2022.

Before coaching, Joffe had a successful collegiate tennis career at Pepperdine University, earning ITA singles All-America honors and reaching the singles semifinals at the NCAA Championships in 1992. He also played professional tennis before transitioning to coaching.

Joffe's coaching journey includes stints at Maryland, Miami (Ohio), and USC before joining Texas. He has been recognized for his coaching prowess at each stop, contributing to the development of successful collegiate tennis programs.
